The Voyages of Roam II Terry & Fiona wander around the globe in a boat. read below for news and updates..... ********************************************************************* Update: 16 May 2010: Cochin, India
We've made it -we're at the end of the Vasco da Gama Rally; down the Red Sea, through Pirate Alley and across the Arabian Sea to Cochin in India. It's still difficult to believe that little ol' us have made this 4,500 mile trip in our own boat. We've had a lot of support from the other boats on the rally, but essentially we have done it all by ourselves. Landing in Mumbai had mixed emotions. The anchorage was less than average and when the wind turned southerly it blew a big uncomfortable chop on us. one night with spring tides and 20knots of wind 2 boats dragged with nasty consequences of loss of gear and damage to theirs and other boats.
Once we had organised lifts ashore we were guests of the Royal Bombay Yacht Club, a fantastic building of fading colonial style, with service to match. the restaurant serves wonderful cheap food and provides a great haven away from the heat and bustle of amazing down-town Mumbai. We spent a few days in Panjim, Goa and had a day at the beach then dodged fishing boats and thunder squalls down to Cochin. It's very hot and humid here with the weather turning pre-monsoon (expected here May 30th).
